The primary motive is the
aesthetic value, so I tend to
lean towards the “art for
art’s sake” school of theory.
I do not like to be surrounded
by ugliness, no matter how
meaningful it may be; that

Why Did You Become An Artist It was not a choice. I was born with a brush in my mouth!

Your Personal Biography I was born in Kuwait on October 10 1967 to a Kuwaiti father and a Syrian mother, I am an Anglophone poet, an artist with five successful solo art exhibitions, a certified interior decorator, a lecturer, and I am the Head of the English Language Unit at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University. I hold a PhD in Creative Writing and an MA in English Literature. I have appeared on several television interviews on Kuwait TV, as well as in various Middle Eastern and Kuwaiti magazines and newspapers, and have also given lectures about poetry and writing to school-children in private British schools in Kuwait and poetry readings to students of the American University of Kuwait. I am a member of many literary and artistic societies, including The Poetry Society (UK), The Poetry Society of America, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (USA), the Kuwait Arts Association (Kuwait), the International Association of Art, the World Crafts Council (Asia Pacific), and the Certified Interior Decorators International (CID, USA). My cultural diversity stems not only from my Middle Eastern upbringing and British education, but from my extensive travel experiences in Asia and the Middle East, North Africa, North and South America, and Europe. I live in Kuwait with my husband and four children in a feng-shuied, Mexican/Moroccan-inspired home.
